Unfortunately, not every corset is created equal. A corset which is curvier will have a larger capacity to reduce the waist, than a corset with less curve. Your best bet is to take your measurements and compare those to that of the corsets we offer to find the closest fit. I Recommend you check out our Corset Calculator to narrow down your options. Then review the corresponding size charts to determine size, and preferred length.

As a general rule, please remember your corset will be centered on your waist. In order to find a proper fit you will need to measure yourself for the specific corset you’re looking at. Most of our corsets are measured at 3 distances. The underbust, 4″ below the waist (upper hip), 6″ below the waist (low hip/full hip). The underbust length varies depending on the model of corset you choose. Please refer to the sizing images and measure at the appropriate distance from the waist for that design.  We understand not everyone’s proportions are the same (which is exactly why we offer so many varying lengths and silhouettes) so we ask you to measure yourself to fit the corset you want to wear. These distances don’t necessarily sit at the edge if the corset, but instead at the distances we measure for our sizing chart. Please review the size chart and you will see the specified distances from waist located in the head column. You can also use our diagram images for each product as an additional tool. Here is an example of a diagram image.

The underbust is the area located below the bust (or pectorals on those without a bust). We use the vertical length from right below the bust to the waist, to determine if you’re long or short-waisted. Some corsets will be patterned for a long or average underbust length. Other corsets will fit all body types vertically (without being too long) but can be on the shorter end. If you’re concerned with a corset being too long or too short (leading to a bit of fluff below the bust if the corset is truly centered on the waist). Please remember to take this measurement, and compare it to our sizing diagrams for each corset you may be interested in.

Unlike standard clothing, a corsets length doesn’t vary from size to size. Each corset has a set vertical length, each size has varying circumference.

When measuring the waist keep in mind it is located in the space between the ribs and hips. Since floating ribs are fairly hard to detect, it is easiest to find your iliac crest (top edge of the hip bone) and feel above this area you will find is more “squishy”  (generally 2″ above, or 4″ above the upper hip) this space is pretty standard on everyone, considering the waist is always in relativity of the upper hip. The ribs are what tend to differentiate in length from person to person. Remember the waist isnt always your smallest measurement. You’re not looking for the “visual” waist (also known as the apparent waist). You’re looking for the skeletal waist. No one can argue the conical rib shape is classic. The decision rests mainly on if you intend to rib train (train your floating ribs to rest inward more) and if you can tolerate pressure on the rib. Most of our corsets (even conical) are slightly contoured to fit the rib comfortably without placing as much pressure on the ribs. This allows for longer duration of wear for waist trainers, and also allows for a greater ability to reduce. Many of our customers have found our  corsets allow for a much more dramatic curve than more conical OTR(off the rack) makers. On that note, we do offer both conical, cupped, and slightly cupped silhouettes in our collection. It is our goal to offer something for every body type and preference.

Typically a shorter corset, a cincher, or waspie would allow for more movement. As a side effect these do offer slightly less support, however you still can achieve a classic silhouette and smaller waist without losing mobility. If you prefer a longer corset, keep in mind you may not be able to move and bend as freely but will help improve posture and overall and provide a smoother line under tight fitting clothing.

What you plan to do while wearing your corset will impact this decision. A stiff busk will offer more support, but will also hinder some movement while laced. A stiff busk is generally better if you prefer maximum support, and do not plan to do much bending or sitting. However, a stiff busk can work on a shorter corset to still allow more freedom in range of movement and ability to sit comfortably for long periods of time.

A flexible busk will offer slightly less support, but will allow for more movement. Unlike the stiff busk, a flexible busk will contour your side profile view. (bend out ward at the rib and hip, and inward at the waist giving a concave profile). I feel a flexible busk is easier to stealth, as it gives a more human shape, and is more comfortable for longer and active days.

When choosing which size corset to purchase keep in mind the waist measurement is the final diameter externally when fully closed. So this will be the smallest size it can be tightened. We typically advise choosing a size 3-7in smaller than your natural waist measurement depending on how muscular or squishy you are. We recommend sending a sizing inquiry through the form below before purchasing to help best find the size, style, and cut best for your body.

We do not recommend washing your corset, because this causes faster wear of the fabric, can dent and warp the bones, and lead to issues with fitting properly. If you must have you corset cleaned, take it to the dry cleaner. If you do sweat with your corset on or if it gets dirty, feel free to gently wipe the liner with a damp cloth. We also recommend wearing a tank top or corset liner beneath your corset to keep the inside of your corset clean.

Yes we offer both special order fabrics and made to measure corsets on a limited basis. At this time we currently are not accepting custom or special orders, but plan to resume hopefully in the coming year.

This is a frequently asked question, partially from social media and conflicting information thats been shared. Our corsets are Fully Steel Boned and offer a Steel Busk. Depending on the design and size our corsets have anywhere from 18 – 30 steel bones. Per that Description our corsets are genuine and suitable for waist training. We do not claim our corsets directly result in weightloss, however with a balanced diet and active lifestyle can lead to those results. There are many claims that corsets aid correcting/healing in diastasis recti (if you’re looking to wear a corset in lieu of a medical girdle please consult a doctor). Also many claims that corsets minimize bloat, help reduce the ability to over eat (the pressure helps you to feel full faster), and boosts self confidence to keep you motivated. In this sense you may see results, but we do not promise, and as always we recommend before making lifestyle changes to always consult a medical professional.

There is some debate as to the best corset for waist training. At the end of the day, it would come down to preference, comfort, and what motivates you daily to lace up! A comfortable corset that you want to wear daily, is a whole lot more effective than an ill-fitting/ uncomfortable corset you dread wearing. Underbust, overbust, or waspie corsets can all be worn for waist training. The most important point is going to always be comfort and fit. The second most important part of that decision is durability.

We offer two different types of mesh. A non stretchy sports mesh (similar to a sports jersey fabric). This mesh is breathable and lightweight, but is double layered for extra strength. This fabric may stretch slightly over time, but not as much as a fishnet style mesh (and will not have any apparent stretch when pulling on the fabric). Our second mesh fabric is a traditional polyester corsetry mesh. This fabric feels like wire, and does not stretch anymore than cotton or satin. Corsetry mesh is finer in weave and the edges can poke through the binding of the corset (poking or rubbing against your skin). If you find a stray edge has worked its way through the binding, we recommend carefully trimming with nail clippers. This type of mesh is recommended to be worn with a corset liner to avoid irritation.

The seasoning period is to allow your body to become accustomed to the compression, as well as allowing the materials to soften. We advise taking your time, slowly tightening your corset, and only keeping at a lighter reduction to start. At a small reduction, start your wearing with shorter lengths of time. You may gradually increase the duration as you begin to feel more comfortable. Please do not tighten all the way down right away. Tightening too much, and too quickly could possibly harm you. Take this time for you and your corset to get introduced. There is no one way to season but the most important part is that you listen to what your body is telling you. Have fun with it! We offer both flexible and stiff busks in our designs. It can vary from corset to corset, so be sure to check the product descriptions! Both busk designs offer different benefits. A stiff busk is most common and offers more of a firm feel to the corset. This busk is very rigid and often accompanies a stiffened modesty placket. If you are looking for extra support or simply prefer more of a firm hug then i recommend this busk. This busk has a more tubular side profile. The flexible busk is more suited to active lifestyles. If you find yourself moving a lot, bending, or sitting; this busk is meant for you. The flexible busk gives more of a contoured profile from the side, and allows for more flexibility in movement (while still offering support). The flexible busk is a fan favorite, but isn’t for everyone. Keep this in mind when making your decision. The flexible busk does have a tendency to point outwards at the front bottom edge if there is extra space in the hip. (during seasoning for example)

If for any reason you are unhappy or have chosen the wrong size, you will have a 14 day window (from receipt) to return the item and exchange or accept refund. To receive a refund the item should be in new condition (worn for less than 15 minutes for sizing purposes) and showing no signs of wear. Shipping costs will not be refunded. The customer is responsible for the cost of returning the item. To prevent any dissatisfaction in sizing and fit, we advise all customers to contact us via the sizing inquiry form (located on our “care wear and sizing page”). Please make sure all items sent back are properly packaged and insured. If the item is being exchanged for another product, please provide payment for shipping.For custom garments MystiC City is not responsible for a corset made to incorrect measurements supplied by the customer, or if the customer changes weight or size after the order is placed.

NOTE: Used Merchendise will not be accepted. In order for full credit or a refund to be issued, the corset should not indicate wear, be re-laced, missing the modesty panel, or corset storage bag. If your return item is missing any of the above items, or look as if it has been re-laced; a 25% restocking fee will be charged.

Shipping cost is calculated based on live rates direct from USPS. Rates are determined by size and weight. If you order a corset shorter than 13” it will be shipped via USPS Legal Flat Rate Envelope. If you order more than one corset, or the item is longer than 13” it will be shipped via USPS Medium Flat Rate Box or based on weight (whichever is lower in cost). Our system automatically searches for the lowest cost option available. All packages are insured and come with valid tracking. If you do not see an option to ship to your country, please contact one of our representatives so to have your countries shipping cost calculated and added to website. After adding products to your cart you’ll be able to estimate shipping for your specific location by using our shipping calculator located on the cart page.

Packages ship by USPS priority mail. Ready to wear corsets are shipped within 24 hours of processing and receipt of payment. Processing can take up to 3-5 business days. packages will ship from our office in Kyle, TX, and can be shipped worldwide. Made to order corsets may take 12-16 weeks to be shipped.
Packages shipped internationally may take up to 20 business days to arrive. NOTE: Please order with holidays, and distance of shipment in mind.
